I note that the day after there is extensive criticism of the head of the RRC, Mr Philips, the Independent comes back with lurid headlines about ‘still discrimination in the police force’. Methinks someone was looking around for something to write about i.e. stuck for a story with a deadline approaching and used the criticism to focus the mind, or is that unkind to the noble profession of journalists?

Jobs

You have to wonder why we need 646 MP’s when India only needs 500! Why do we need lots of Quango’s such as the Race Relations Commission which appears to be run by an incompetent who only seems to want the money and prestige. What do all these MP’s do? Television pictures of parliament would seem to indicate that most of them don’t spend much time there. Why can’t they run the quango’s. More jobs for the boys and an own goal by the estimable Harriet Harman.

Funny and MOD

Isn't life funny: we ran the biggest empire the world has ever seen with 4000 civil servants, now, with about 10,000 the MOD not only can't decide what is the correct equipment to buy for our troops it can't even keep track of things like radios. If it wasn't so tragic and costing lives we could all roll about laughing.

Wonder what's happened to this, nothing on David Meadows tweet, which is strange as it's usually so reliable, Sundays aren't the same without it.

Poltroons

You have to wonder about Gordon Brown; I mean rightly or wrongly it should be obvious to anyone who hasn't resigned from the human race that refusing to send more soldiers and extra helicopters to Afghanistan is gona cost votes. If the man had any sense he'd jump in with both feet, give the treasury what for and supply the goods that the people think the army need. The money was found quickly enough to re-fund a load of greasy bankers, why not our troops. Unless, of course, he thinks he knows better than everyone else - which he might, think he does that is.

On another tack, what a summer! So much for the fab time we were to get this year after the downpours of last - huh! Someone forgot to check with God, or the Devil if your a Cathar, for his view on the situation..................
